Our Goal
Healthcare Alternative Spring Break aims to help pre-health undergraduates learn about the unique characteristics of rural health care through first-hand, immersive experiences and give back to the communities. During the University of Washington’s Spring Break, teams of undergraduates students will travel to rural areas in Washington and shadow healthcare providers. This experience allows students to observe the challenges of health care in under resourced clinics, and build relationships with the providers themselves. On the last day, the teams will give back to their host community, typically through visiting a school and promoting higher education.

“We aim to expose the next generation of healthcare professionals to the specific healthcare needs of the rural/underserved communities in Washington. By immersing students in an interactive experience, we hope to inspire a further commitment to healthcare.”
